Year 10s at the University of Melbourne

Mr. Demir and a selected number of Year 10 students from MFC visited the University of Melbourne. Students were fortunate to experience the various faculties and the atmosphere of the university, many for the first time in their lives. The program’s focus was on Humanities and Social Sciences, with sessions ranging from Street Law to Power of Montage in Film, as well as other faculties ranging from Architecture to Accounting.

Many students found university life awesome and walked away with experiences that will bode them well in their future Career Development choices.

RoboCup Juniors State Finals

On Tuesday the 14th of August, Year 7-9 students were selected to represent our school in the annual RoboCup Juniors State Finals competition hosted at the University of Melbourne.

Our students performed quite well, winning enough games to secure a few 2nd and 3rd place rankings within their groups. The students enjoyed themselves and learned a lot about their robots, working as a team, and from their losses.

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, which the students are eager to face again in the Australian National RoboCup Juniors competition, coming up in the next two months.

Year 10 Table Tennis: District Champions

On the 10th of August, our Year 10 students were crowned District Champions for table tennis. The team bet Roxburgh College and Hume Central to progress to the finals. In the finals, our team defeated Gladstone Park Secondary 6-0 to book their place in the Northern Metropolitan Regional Finals held later in the term.

Congratulations to everyone involved and we wish our boys the best of luck in the regionals.
